skoalsoldier wrote:Soooooo update on beer can koozies. Currently at a loss for ideas. I have tried two different designs and neither seems to be any good. Me and Ford are gonna brainstorm some more on it when we get a chance between training the new guys. But I'm sure we'll come up with something.
I wonder if you could weave a tube that will fit a can, then melt the bottom threads together....

[WARNING: This is not a brainstorm; it is a braindrizzle, possibly a brain flurry. Ignore this if you have already attempted this, because people who are smarter than I am are already in the queue. Now back to our regularly-scheduled program.]

Yeah we have tried a melting the cord togethet thing, didn't work out too well. There is a knot I am trying to figure out, called a Turks Head, but it is ridiculously hard, but if I can perfect it then it will be perfect!

Might be interesting to try a 550 volleyball or ping pong net. It's been done before, but 550 rifle slings are neat.

Best of luck, and I'll have to get a hammock when you guys start shipping ;)

Hehehe yeah I love me some ping-pong, so a net would be pretty kool. We gave away our hammock prototype to a soldier that just got here recently, figured he could use it. We won't be shipping any from here, but I might be able to pump a couple out once I get home.

So I've been tryin a knot for the can koozie, and I found a couple of extra ways to utilize it as well :D

It makes a damn good grip on the bottom of the mag, and if you notice in the second pic there is one on my light as well. I just have to figure out how to do it on a larger scale.

haha, yeah i conned John into making me one of these cool mag turk head thingys :) and then proceeded to apply a corny makeshift zombie head to one side and Zombie Mag on the other side. It's the only official Zombie Mag :) mwhahhahahahhahaha. Now all I need is some zombie targets when I get home to test my mag on :) +1 to John on the whole make more hammocks things when we get home.

Now I know why my wife gets mad at me for putting smilies everywhere...on our myspace conversations!

I will try and send you guys some knots / brades that may work for what your doing.

You can melt large amounts of 550 together but its slow work and you really need to seal coat it.

Try a simple figure 8 to keep all the strands together for starters.

PS: Dont waist your time on 550 slings, they look cool but end up hurting like a bitch unless you make them real wide and that just makes it heavier.

If you could scroung a piece of parachute strap and small diamiter bike tire tube, you can make a super comfortable one.

Gunworks, let me know when you are going to send out a care package. The Ratliff's want to throw some stuff in the box. Is porn still a no-no?
