These pics were indeed NEFGC. The maximum yardage we could get was 415 yards. 415 yards were much farther away than I had anticipated. In the downrange pic, the white object at about 360 yards is a Ford F150 for size comparisons.

After several hours of scope and scouting practice we were able to knock golf balls off the rocks at 415 yards.

When you are used to the targets being seven yards away, 400+ yards seems like a LONG distance!

I'm curious about the suppressed bolt gun that Mitch is shooting. (And I won't even ask why there is a hammer in the third picture from the top.)

I learned several invaluable lessons on this range day.

1. Hold over for an integrally suppressed .44mag at 400+ yards is measured in tens of feet, not inches.

2. With a high quality spotting scope, you can actually watch the bullet go down range due to it's visible vapor trail.

3. Even with a high precision sniping platform, make sure you bring a big freaking hammer. You never know when you need to make a minor scope base adjustment, or have to beat the action open in a hurry.

We made Brandon take off the label to his Gatorade, so Mitch and I wouldn't accidentally drink after him, and catch his Herpes.
