Another big +1 for Dave

Post by S Lance » Fri Aug 28, 2009 9:14 pm

I finally got a chance to shoot my PSS that Dave, aka Barrel Threader, worked on for me this year. He set the barrel back and cut a new chamber, bedded the action, worked the trigger, and cut 6" off the barrel and cut threads for use with a can.

Prior the work, I could typically shoot 1-2" groups at 100yds with it. (I'm no rifleman, but I always thought the rifle should do better.) This afternoon, I did a quick sight in and proceeded to shoot the below .8" five shot group, from prone, using only a bipod. Needless to say I'm very pleased.

Thanks Dave!:)

He does excellent work. My reworked and threaded 300 RUM PSS has killed golf balls at 410-ish yards.

Is that powder residue on that target?
Resistance is mandatory.

To be loved and resptected is desireable. To be feared will work also.

Decent group, for 15 yards.

Thanks for the vote of confidence guys.;)

(You know, if I was like everyone else on the internet, I'd fire about twenty shots, circle the best three, and call that my group.)

Seriously though, if Dave can make my rifle shoot under 1moa with ME pressing the trigger, I'm happy. I'm sure that someone that actually knows what they are doing would get much better results.

I got a Dpms 24" heavy barrell ar in .223 for x-mas. I'm like you I don't claim to be a marksman with anything though.I got the gun with the thought of varmit hunting and a little long range target shooting.well I finally got a decent scope and haven't had time to go to a range so i shot it here at the house, we can shoot about 50 yards, I got the thing zeroed "at 50yds" I know it needs to be farther but I was desperate to shoot it. well I know 50 yards is not very far but I shot 3 shot group that was just a hair over 5/16". I can't wait to see what it will do at distance...
