Capt. Franklin Moore - 1937-2008
Captain Franklin Moore, 71, of Flatwoods, died in Oakmont Manor in Flatwoods.
Mr. Moore was born June 2, 1937, at Cheap, a son of the late Frank and Opal McCoy Moore.
He attended Pumpkin Center Community Church and was employed at the AK Steel coke plant. He served in the U.S. Army, Navy and National Guard.
He was a Flatwoods Auxillary Police captain from 1977 to 1984 and a Greenup County constable for 23 years. He was in charge of security at the Greenup County Fair for 15 years.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Duty Moore; his second wife, Oma Duty Moore; a son, John Moore; a daughter, Diana Lore; a sister, Charlene Salyers; a granddaughter, Diana Grey Moore; and a grandson, Samual Moore Jr.
He is survived by three daughters, Donna (Dave Matthews) of Flatwoods; Debbie Moore of Flatwoods and Jennifer (Ben) Dotson of Columbus; three sons, Steve (Tara) Duty of Wurtland, Sam (Heidi) Moore of Greenup and Tony Moore of Greenup; a sister, Sheila Brown of Flatwoods; and a daughter-in-law, Heather Moore of Greenup.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods by Pastor Ernie Duty and Minister Chad Burns. Burial will be in Whitt Cemetery at Argillite.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.
