Rifle Plates

Post by Gary Stevens » Wed Jan 25, 2012 8:08 pm

Just talked to Karl at GT Targets. He can't make anything that will withstand a 300 Ultra Mag at 100 yards, so don't shoot our new plates:)

He is sending us two 10 inch plates with different mountings. We can try them and see if we like them, then pay for them later.

Outstanding. I look forward to seeing them. I assume that .308 should be okay?

btw, Jason and I had nothing to do with this...

What type of material does it take to stand a 300?

The plates we are getting are 3/8 AR500. At that range, I honestly don't know what it would take. The plate we have now was supposed to be AR500 and be able to withstand the Ultra Mag, but it has a very nice hole in it from Jason's rifle.

Plates will be here Tuesday. I will bring them to the IDPA match Sunday. One plate sits on a 2x4 the other will be hung from a chain apparatus.

We will have to do some fabrication on the chain plate.

I will not shoot the new plates, or let Scott either. Thanks Gary.

Apparently GT Targets and I had a small mis-communication. We received one plate with the attachment for a 2x4 mount.

Shouldn't be too hard to mount all we need is a good 2x4 strongly mounted to something, fort, tree, etc. and we should be in business.

Nice to know that our plate assasins Jason and Scott will be giving this plate a pass.:D

I ordered a heavy duty base for the new plate. Will make it much easier to set up.
