New AR/Sight questions/Entry-level 1911
Just purchased my first AR, a DPMS sportical in 5.56. 16" 1 in 9 barrel. Had to pay about $80 more than MSRP, due to the bamster, but I was pretty happy just to find one.
I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on entry-level red-dot sights, similar to the ones a lot of you guys have on your kel-tec sub guns?
Also, entry-level 1911s? I just held a colt commander in my hand and the trigger feels amazing, but it was also a $1k gun... anything cheaper that's still reliable? PT1911?

You can go as cheap or expensive as you want on red dots.
It all depends on what you like (dot size and style) and can afford.
I started with a Tasco cheapo and went from there.
I may still have one, if so I will let you have it cheap.
I do have a Bushnell halo sight I am getting ready to sell, $125.
I would say look at what PCC guys are using next match and see what you like.
As for 1911s, Colt having an amazing trigger, cant be factory and a grand for a good pistol is considered cheap by some.
I did a trigger job on a PT1911 (it was slopy and heavy)when they first came out. I thought fit and finish were very good and most of the factory parts were fairly high end, not top shelf.
I have heard the quality has come down since then but for the money they are hard to beat.
But then I say BUY AMERICAN when ever possible, STI, SV, Kimber, Caspian, some Springfields ect.
But thats just me and dosent count cat piss smelling ammo.

This may seem a silly question, but is there any chance that we might have a rifle stage, or run through the pistol stages with AR-style carbines anytime soon?

For those who don't know Country Joe, he is one of our AGC family that got temporarily separated from us due to work demands.
Joe has worked his way back to the Cincinnati area and will be shooting with us when he can.
We all look forward to seeing him again.
