Sten Mk III questions (possible PCC build)

Post by H0tR0d » Tue Feb 17, 2009 10:05 am

Yeah, I'm looking at a Sten Mk III 9mm build....one because it's funky, two because you don't see them that often :) I have a couple questions for you older joes though.

1. I haven't a freakin' clue on putting one together LOL...?? anyone?
2. I found a SAS3 parts kit that swaps it over to semi for all the ATF hassle.
3. Am I going to have to get a NFA stamp for this weapon as from the pictures, the barrel seems kinda short ? :)
4. Does anyone know about the reliability of said weapon?

Yeah, um...I'm shooting into the dark, someone turn on the lights...

If you build it box-stock, you will have to get a stamp because it's full auto. There are groups out there on the Intarwebz dedicated to building the STEN, both full and semi.

As for reliability, I have had dealings with a couple "older Joes" who have used this weapon in Her Majesty's service, and they say it's almost AK-47 reliable. :)

If you build it box stock you will lose it to BATF&E and could go to jail.

Semi-auto and shorter than a 16" brl, it will have to be SBRed.

The ones I have shot (all autos) were totally reliable.

Mag changes will be slow.

roger that, after a little research after my last mission, i found an 80% receiver tube to allow it to operate from a closed bolt and be BATF gtg, but I figured that I could get the tax stamp and keep the original barrel :)

wonder if I could make a 9mm drum fit :)
