I had a chance to try both types of frangible ammo today. It was too wet to chronograph, I'll do that later.

Both the Fiocchi and Winchester ran 100% in both of the sbr's I tried them in. There was no keyholing whatsoever. (Both rifles have 12.5" 1/7 barrels.) Both shot to about the same point of impact as commercial .223 55gr rounds at 50 yards. Accuracy seemed fine, but it was raining in sheets so I didn't try too hard for groups. The Winchester was much smokier than the Fiocchi.

I was suprised at the amount of penetration the rounds exhibited. At 25 yards, the frangible ammo would pass entirely through a .30 caliber ammo can with the lid stored inside. One round penetrated the can, the lid's hasp, and through the lid where it is folded in two, so basically it went through five layers of the can without difficulty.

Any idea what it would do to our poppers?

I'm curious to see if it would be useable for a paper/steel IPSC stage.
Carbines rule-pistols suck in general!

I have a few rounds left that we can play with. If the poppers would hold up to the frangible ammo, it might be an interesting option.

There's also an old popper I know of that's been laying on the ground, in the same spot, for the last ten years or so.

Hmmm................

Since the weather was so nice today, I decided to find out. The answer is in a new thread.:)
