Dunno about benefits.... I have seen one site that claims they keep your hands away from the hot barrel. Reckon?

I have shot several matches with my Beretta, and the barrel never got warm to the touch. I guess a shroud is cheaper than a leather jacket and a motorcycle, if you want to look cool.
