I have been looking into getting a M&P 15-22, perhaps the new HK 416D or one the Tactical Solution .22 Uppers for a trainer/fun rifle that handles much like a regular AR. I've searched the web and most report the M&P is good although light for an AR, the Colt is cheaply made with a bolt holder that's just for looks, and haven't read much about the Tactical Solution although mine for a 1911 works well. I read today the HK is made by the same company that makes the Colt so I'm narrowing it down to the M&P or Tactical Solution. Any thoughts?

Do you have an AR already?
The reason I ask is that the conversions run pretty well, and are more economical.
If you don't have one already, shame on you.........

I have two ARs'. Both Colts. The M&P as a complete rifle sounds good to me, although a Tactical Solution Upper would be good too. It's a little surprising to me that a complete M&P Rifle is cheaper than a Tactical Solution Upper though.
If it works well though it's worth it to me.

I have to go with MRB on this one. For well less than $200 the drop in kits are hard to beat. I've had nothing but good luck with mine.

I've got one (conversion kit, not upper) that you can try at the next match, if you want to test drive one before you buy-let me know.

I have heard good things about the Spikes Tactical since I started my research so perhaps I'll give it a try. No one has mention the Tactical Solution so I don't know.
Matt if you want to bring your conversion I'd be willing to get it a shot. Get it... shot?:)

No problem-bring an AR and some ammo, and we'll "plug and play".
Bad pun, btw.

Gary you might want to look at CMMG also.
They have made some changes to their 22 AR and it seems to be really well recived.
Prices seems good too.

I'll check on the CMMG. Thanks for the heads up.
