Suppressed SBR Buffer?

My check has been cashed and I'm waitin on my Form 1 approval. I've gathered most of the parts to build a 11.5" upper except the barrel. What buffer (rifle, carbine, 9mm) have you found to be the most reliable for an application like mine? Does it even matter?

A lot of it will depend on the specifics of your particular gun but I suggest that you start with a H buffer and go from there. You could try heavier if you get a lot of blow-back, but you might run into issues shooting the gun non-suppressed. Ideally the gun should function, when dirty, with the lowest powered ammo you'll ever shoot through it.

Unless you are using a full length rifle stock, a rifle buffer won't work because it is too long.

You want to run the heaviest buffer you can while still having the rifle lock open on an empty mag.

Keep in mind unless you get real Colt buffers most H buffs will not be the right weight so you should weigh them (just got a new H and it was.2 oz light).
Probably what I will run in mine.

Off the top of my flat head I think,
Carb is 3 oz
H is 3.7
H2 is 4.6
H3 is 5.4
9mm is 5.7

I will post actual later when I have my data sheet.

PS: PM inbound.

Here's a graphic I lifted off the net.

Looks like my head is not as flat as I thought.

Colt weights are

Rifle 5.15

Car 2.9

H 3.77

H2 4.7

H3 5.6

9 5.47

Suppresed 9mm SMG or 9+P+

9A 6.3

9B 7.1

9X 7.9

I ended up getting one of the Spike's Tactical 4.3 oz buffers with seems to fall right between a H1 and a H2.

As a special, early, Christmas present I received my approved tax stamp today. Thanks for the advice. I'll see you at a match in the near future.

Merry Christmas to you! I imagine that the buffer will work fine.

Don't forget to do a 5320.20.

I already planning to submit a bunch of 5320.20s when the '11 schedules are published. It will be more than a minor pain in the ass for me since nearly all of the 25 to 30 matches I shoot each year are outside WV. Of course, not all the matches will require the use of a SBR but a bunch of them will offer some opportunities......

You probably already know this, but you can do a 5320.20 that covers a full 365 day period for each of the places you shoot, so the exact match dates aren't important. I usually do mine from Jan01-Dec31.

I didn't know I could a do 365 day period. What address do you suggest I use for the club? I have an actual address for all the other clubs I frequent.
