Do we have an update on what caused Grayson's (a 1911 style and not, I repeat, not a Glock) pistol to kaboom? I'd be interested to see any photos of the disassembly and resulting damage.

I'm glad the youngster didn't suffer any more damage than he did.

I tried to put a tourniquet on his neck but he kept fighting me off.

Scooter says the brl is bluged and there was some brass stuck in the chamber.

That sounds like too much powder to me but it could have been a weak / defective case.

I got the slide and frame magnafluxed, no cracks. However the barrel was bulged and a piece of brass was stuck in chamber. Who knows what caused it. I appreciate every one of you guys that watched out for him. It could have been a double charge but I don't know how. Like everyone else I'm very careful when I load. This is the first ammo related issue we've had in the 5 or so years I've been volume reloading. I have changed one process. I'm going to buy once fired brass instead of picking range brass. I think the high pressure of the 40 round really weakens the brass. I'm glad he wasn't hurt and that he was with guys that watch out for him. Thanks again.
