It depends a little on wether you want to shoot IDPA or USPSA. You can get into either one with a minimum of equipment. A reliable safe gun 4 or 5 mags a holster and a mag pouch or two. The main thing is to show up and after you figure out what you want to shoot you can tailor your equipment to that. Don't go out and waste alot of money till you've shot a couple of times. And most of the guys can give you advice and most are more than willing to let you barrow different stuff to help the decision process.

What Scooter said.

My $.02: Both USPSA and IDPA have divisions for virtually any handgun you may choose, and you can usually get by with 3 magazines, although more IS better. You will also need eye and ear protection.

The main thing is to get out to a match, introduce yourselves, and jump in-everybody has to start somewhere. Don't be afraid to ask questions (we'll be happy to help, but sometimes it's hard to tell when/if people want advice), and there is a wealth of information available among the members of the club.

I'd also suggest that you visit both the USPSA and IDPA websites to become familliar with the basic rules, if you haven't done so.

Do you have any specific questions?

Might be worth coming out to a match before you come to shoot.

You can talk to us, see what people shoot and how they have their stuff set up.

Just bring hearing protection and safety glasses.

Come out, see what a match is all about...that's the best way to explain it. The next match is Jan 16 @ 11:30.

You can also search for "USPSA", "IPSC", or "IDPA" on Youtube and find tons of videos that are similar to what we do.
